Her original name Antara Biswas, Monalisa graduated in Sanskrit from Ashutosh college in Kolkata. She worked with Bengal with stalwarts like Prosenjit and Tapas Paul before zipping through teeny roles in Oriya flicks, an item in Kannada film Dayanayak. Then Bollywood called and an uncle suggested that she change her name for good luck.
