Ladies Vs Ricky BahlWith 2 new comers in Bollywood, Band Baaja Baaraat was essentially the most unforeseen of hits from keep going year, generating instant stars out of Anushka Sharma and Ranveer Singh.

The movie has also been a debut for director Maneesh Sharma, and turned into a major and commercial success too. With everything else going right for it, it is clear that Yash Raj movies is looking towards keeping a winning formula, that is what establishes its latest launch, Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, with similar Anushka-Ranveer-Maneesh combination behind it. But, can the banner gets twice-lucky?

For example, however the team may be the same, Ladies vs Ricky Bahl is no Band Baaja Baaraat. As the earlier movie was a charming rom-com about middle-class Delhi, Ladies vs Ricky Bahl can best be known as a slick 'rom-con', with much more up-market aspirations. In place of Maneesh himself, at this point, the plot is composed by producer Aditya Chopra, who crafts an interesting enough story, using a con-game at its centre, but does not quite find complete form teams together with his players. Ladies vs Ricky Bahl requires a slick con artist who is developed a habit out of relieving beautiful ladies nationally off major sums of cash. So, if he cons Dilli ki Dimpy from a cool couple of million rupees, faking to be hotshot trainer Sunny Singh, in Lucknow, he defrauds a young widow, Saira, from another million from pretending to be the shy Iqbal Khan.

But, as he takes rising corporate star Raina Parulekar for up to half a crore by pretending to become art dealer Deven Shah, she decides going to back at whom she calls bloody kameena by getting the additional two titular ladies together. Raina, Saira and Dimpy together, choose that they would like to get back at the nameless con artist by managing a con game of their own, in which they hire Ishika, a smooth-talking, uber-talented saleswoman, who could pretend to be a billionaire heiress, as well as a artificial target for him. Unfortunately, it waits to appear whether they could actually con the disadvantage or are they had again.

As the movie's idea is really a fine one, the situation with Ladies vs Ricky Bahl is that its a couple of stars, Anushka and Ranveer, do not quite appear to have shaken from the airs of their earlier role. Anushka's Ishika, in chief, is very paying homage to her Shruti Kakkar, with a similar, glib, smooth operator's personality, while retaining her middle-class, almost small-towny attraction. While it is not a bad, one supposes in a movie such as this one would expect a slicker turn. The air between Anushka and Ranveer, too, is taken with the Band Baaja vibe, with Ranveer's confession scene with Anushka especially like the climactic moments from the earlier scene. The talented Anushka attempts her best to burn the screen, at point even donning a bikini in a Bond girl-type sequence, the character sticks.

Another jarring point is the reality that as its lead, Anushka enters the fray far too late from the movie, to arrive only at the phase point, with all the movie aimed at Ranveer's cons until then. Director Maneesh Sharma obviously provides a way with romantic comedies, especially when he is partnering with Habib Faisal, of Do Dooni Chaar, who pens the dialogues here. The actual, between the 2, is which they prefer to keep it simple, and it performs to beautiful effect here too. Though there are some off-key moments stretched a long time, in most cases, Sharma is able to craft an engaging movie with excellent chemistry between all his stars.

Sharma also handles to get some extremely effective routines from his superstars. While Anushka is peppy and wonderful as always, Ranveer reveals great promise again, in what is just his second outing? The actor has placed on a significant load of muscle for his role here, and melds into his hunky persona, specifically in the next half. The actor, who earned applause for his natural Jat stylings on his debut, controls to replace that image with a much slicker one here.

From the 'Ladies', Dipannita Sharma and Aditi Sharma, as Raina and Saira, respectively, perform a good job of their jobs, with Aditi especially captivating in her quiet ways. However, the scene stealer here is debutant Parineeti Chopra, whose very funny turn as the standard Delhi spoilt brat Dimpy is sure to have audiences in splits. Parineeti, a cousin from the more illustrious Priyanka Chopra, controls to get into the really skin of her role, and provides her non-sequiturs of dialogues with your a natural pout that you cannot help but smile loudly.

Though Salim-Suleiman have composing jobs, again, for Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, the movie is not a good musical tour-de-force. While aadat se majboor performs fine in the starting, and jazba makes a good mark too, the movie does not have any standout musical moments to talk of.

Provided that Yash Raj movies has chosen to keep the same innovative team on Ladies vs Ricky Bahl as on Band Baaja Baaraat, the ratings between the 2 movies are basically unavoidable. Actually, a much more appropriate comparison will be another Yash Raj launch, from earlier this year, Luv Ka The End, that had an identical revenge comedy set-up. Still, maybe it is a unfair line to take, andon its own merits, Ladies vs Ricky Bahl is performance well. While it might not be an immediate classic, the movie has its own beauty, as well as for Maneesh Sharma's direction, the chemistry between Anushka and Ranveer, and Parineeti Chopra's hilarious debut, Ladies vs Ricky Bahl should be watched once, at least.
